About Breething Books
Joseph Mascio · Bookseller, writer & collector
A love of the written word.
A collector’s eye for art.
I’m Joseph Mascio, the person behind Breething Books. I hail from Washington, DC, and studied at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics. An avid writer and poet, I’m also an enthusiastic collector of books and art.
I have a particular love of livres d’artiste: books in which words, images, paper and print come together as a work of art. That meeting of literature and visual expression is at the heart of my interests as both a collector and a bookseller.
Breething Books LLC is an independent Colorado dealer in rare and antiquarian books, livres d’artiste, artists’ books, illustrated editions, prints, photography portfolios and works on paper. The catalog reflects those interests and welcomes readers, collectors, libraries, institutions and fellow dealers.
The particular copy matters
A book’s appeal lives in its details: an edition, an inscription, an original print, a binding or a history of ownership. Two copies of the same title can tell very different stories.
Careful descriptions
Listings record edition details, contents, condition and documented provenance. Original prints, reproductions and facsimiles are distinguished, and known wear, defects or repairs are described.
A conversation before you buy
Questions are welcome. Ask for additional photographs, clarification or a condition report, or inquire about a work marked “Price on request.” International delivery is available by quotation.
For a closer look at selected editions, visit Edition Research and Artists & Authors. Previously sold material can be explored in the Sold Archive.
Let’s talk books and art
Whether you’re considering a particular work, building a collection or looking to sell a book or private library, I’d be glad to hear from you.
